About

Hi there, welcome to our blog, we are the senior (adult) section of West Muskerry Athletics Club. All our latest updates are on our blog posts:  https://westmuskerryrunners.wordpress.com/blog-posts/

Our members are mainly into distance running, on the roads, in the mountains, as well as cross-country and track.

We meet up for a group training session every Monday evening at 7.30pm (check latest update). This regular meet-and-train session is set up to help our runners get a bit faster and fitter in a sociable setting. All adult runners of all fitness levels are welcome!

Our coaches are Athletics Ireland accredited, and our training sessions allow everyone to run the repetitions at their own pace but the warm-ups, recovery intervals and cool-downs are run by everyone together.

For those not familiar with the training locations, Tom Creedon Park is down the lane beside McCarthy’s Service Station on the western side of Macroom. There is car parking, flood lighting and most of the running is on grass. The floodlit track in Clondrohid is next to the Astro and GAA pitches, sharing the common car parking. The circuit in Ballymakeera is behind the secondary school. We try to pick the most suitable location each week, depending on the session planned.
